From boat parades to the annual 4th of July firework show, Lake Wylie was created between North and South Carolina and is enjoyable year-round by both locals and visitors!
Shared by both North and South Carolina, this huge man-made lake was originally built to dam the Catawba River for electricity. Now Lake Wylie is enjoyed by many year-round for boating, tubing, jet skiing, exploring, fishing, and much more! In May, head over to Loftin Park in Belmont for RiverFest, a family-friendly festival held on the banks of the Catawba River. In July, kick back and watch the 4th of July Fireworks from the water, or join the dozens of onlookers on the famous Buster Boyd Bridge. In October, partake in the annual Riversweep where you can help clean up trash and debris along the shoreline and in the water to help keep Lake Wylie safe and sanitary. In December, celebrate the holidays with the Lights on the Lake Boat Parade! With approx. 325 miles of shoreline and its close proximity to public docks, great restaurants, and an endless number of possibilities on the water, this picturesque waterway makes planning a day on the water easy.
